These Cats Need Forever Homes

There are 2.7 million dogs and cats who are killed (euthanized) in shelters every year, according to the Humane Society of the United States. While there has been a huge decline in the number of animals killed since the 1970s, when shelters killed 12 to 20 million cats and dogs. The decline in euthanizations may be attributed to the many no-kill shelters out there that have caring foster homes who care for the cats that can’t fit in the shelter. However, there are millions of cats that still need homes.

Animal Welfare Association

The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is a non-profit organization with a no-kill animal shelter, pet adoption center, and a low cost spay/neuter clinic.

Here are a few of these sweeties from the Animal Welfare Association (AWA) of Vorhees, New Jersey that are available for adoption:

Maizie

Maizie

Maizie is an 8-year-old tortoiseshell cat who went to the AWA on July 25, 2014 from a shelter in Philadelphia. She’s a loving mom who nursed her kittens, and even became a surrogate mom to some orphaned kittens while at the shelter. Maizie is a sweet cat who loves being pet, and is great with other cats. She’s also very shy, which has been hindering her getting adopted. Maizie needs a loving and patient home. Once she gets to know you she will shine.

The B Kittens – Baker, Beatrice, Bryce and Brooklyn

The B Kittens

Baker, Beatrice, Brooklyn, and Bryce are siblings that came to the AWA on May 28, 2014. They are 4 months old. Many adopters go to shelters seeking younger kittens or adult cats, which is why these teens are still there. These cats, known as the B kittens, are affectionate, playful and sweet. They need a loving home.

King Kurt

King Kurt

King Kurt VonneCat is a 5-year-old orange tabby cat. His owner surrendered him to AWA on August 5, 2014. The King is a sweet cat who loves to be pet, but will get over stimulated and let you know. He was with his guardians since he was a kitten, but became very territorial (as cats do), and began to scratch guests when he felt threatened. The staff at AWA has the King on a behavioral modification program so he can be comfortable and feel safe in his next home. He needs a home where cat behavior is understood. He will need some time and understanding from his new cat parents.

Go to the AWA in Vorhees, New Jersey (located at 509 Centennial Boulevard) to meet these three cats and many others. Call Christie Camnitz, who is the adoption counselor at Animal Welfare Association. She can be reached at adoptions@awanj.org or 856-424-2288.

Operation Kindness

Here are three more cats from Operation Kindness, the oldest and largest no-kill, pet adoption shelter in Northern Texas.

Magnum
Delphinia

Magnum and Delphenia

Magnum and Delphenia are best friends. Delphenia is 6-years-old while Magnum is 1-1/2-years-old. They are affectionate with each other, love to play and get pet. Not only has someone already paid Magnum’s adoption fee, but (since they must go to the same home) Operation Kindness is going to waive Delphenia’s adoption fee, too!

Hermoine

Hermoine

Hermoine, a 12-year-old domestic shorthair, is a perfect cat for singles or empty nesters. She’s gentle and loving. Hermoine needs two pills a day for her hyperthyroid condition. She’s otherwise healthy, and with her medication she’s fine. She would be great in a home with older kids, but probably not with other animals.

Sassy

Sassy

This is Sassy, because that’s what she is! Sassy is affectionate, and loves to be social, even at the age of 13. She’s even an official greeter at Operation Kindness where she’s seen a lot of loving families. She is ready for her own.

If you are interested in adopting, call Operation Kindness at #(972) 418-7297 to make an appointment to meet these awesome cats. The shelter is located at 3201 Earhart Dr, Carrollton, TX 75006.

Millions of cats are in shelters or foster homes awaiting someone to adopt them so they can live their lives in a forever home filled with love and kindness. Here at WagBrag, we want to get the word out about cats in need. We also want to help save some lives by getting cats who are going to get euthanized into homes. If you own a cat shelter and have cats in need of homes, contact the author to have your cats profiled here.
