Russia’s first ‘sniffer’ cat held an important role in helping to stop the illegal trade of caviar and Sturgeon, an endangered fish species called. Rusik was so good at his job that he was considered better than the police’s canine. Unfortunately, Rusik was killed when he was run over during an inspection. The Russian police are calling it a contract murder. The cat was killed a few days starting to work. Rusik was a stray cat that the police adopted and trained. The police had hoped that Rusik would help them to catch the culprits in a smuggling ring.
