Animal In Distress
A Faithful Friend Stays With Her
Amazingly, there was another dog who stood faithfully by her side – he had apparently stayed with her for those two days and barked nonstop for help until someone finally found them and called Lifeline Animal Project.
The rescuers named the dog hanging by her toe – “Athena”. They named the sweet boy who stood by her – “Zues”.
The Bonded Pair Rescued
The dogs were brought into LifeLine’s Fulton County Animal Service shelter yesterday, and Zues did not want Athena out of his sight. He cried and barked so loudly when the staff took her back to the vet trailer for treatment, that they had to bring Zues back and put him in the cage beside Athena. Karen Hirsch, with LifeLine, visited the dogs today and said, “Zues was busy licking Athena’s toe and protecting her from everyone.”
Athena’s toes is swollen, but she is on pain medicine and going to be okay. We are told, that both Zues and Athena are “super sweet and loving dogs”. LifeLine also is hoping that they get adopted into the same home – because clearly Zues is very attached to Athena.
In some county animal shelters, if an animal is injured it would not receive medical attention. We support LifeLine because they provide the necessary veterinarian care so that the animals in their shelters do not have to endure pain or suffering.
