Blind Dog Found – Scared and Hiding Under a House
In January, the Monroe County Animal Shelter in TN brought Ricky into their shelter. They found Ricky scared and hiding under a house. One of their animal control officers had to climb under the house to coax Ricky out. The shelter scanned him and found that he had been microchipped. They also realized that Ricky was blind. Thinking that they had just found someone’s lost pet, an animal control officer paid a visit to his home. Unfortunately, Rick was not going to be reunited with his family – this was not the happy ending story that animal control officers were expecting. Instead, animal control learned that the couple who owned Ricky had broken up – leaving Ricky abandoned.
At the shelter, Ricky was confused and scared. Esther Nunely, one of the Monroe animal shelter volunteers met Ricky and was overcome by how nice Ricky was. “He is a very sweet boy. He loves people and gets along with other dogs. You can tell he is use to a home environment, shelter life is just not his cup of tea”, Esther wrote to WagBrag.
Fearing that Ricky was at risk of being euthanized, Esther made the decision to become his temporary foster home. She is planning to meet with a veterinarian to see if they can determine the reason why Ricky is blind.
Help Rick Find a Permanent Home
We need help in finding Ricky a permanent home.
Ricky is a Terrier mix about three years old and is blind. Ricky is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and he is heartworm negative.
