The breed of a dog can determine so many things. Health problems, life expectancy, eating habits, and a slew of important traits. When adopting a dog, knowing his or her breed is top priority for owners, and apparently, there are some breeds that the American people are really love.

The folks over at DogVacay, a dog-sitting company, looked at their own data and Google’s to determine the most popular dog breeds of 2015. To no one’s surprise the great Golden Retriever was number one.

Coming in at number 2? The Shih Tzu, followed by the Rottweiler, Chihuahua, and French Bulldog.

Interesting enough, Golden Retrievers are the third most popular breed according to the American Kennel Club. The Shih Tzu is number 17, Rottweiler is 10, Chihuahua is 24, and the French Bulldog number 9.

Golden Retrievers are great dogs, especially for families. Golden Retrievers are known to be very friendly, loyal and intelligent. Plus, they are medium-sized dogs, which many people prefer to large or small breeds.

Retrievers are also very active, which again, makes them perfect for an energetic family. In fact, they are called the “Peter Pan of dogs” because they can stay very active even as they get older.

They are known to be healthy dogs as well. Of course, every dog is different, but overall, Retrievers have good health.
