AllPaws: A Cool New Adoption App For Your Phone

As the old mantra goes, “There’s an app for that!” There are apps for finding restaurants, new music, and even potential romantic partners- and now there’s an app for finding your new best friend. The AllPaws app, free on the iPhone, lets you browse 200,000 adoptable dogs and cats in local shelters, increasing your chance of finding a lovable match quickly and easily.

Searching for a New Pet?

The app lets viewers search using location, age, and pet type criteria. There are detailed pet profiles and photos for each dog and cat. A “favorites” list lets you keep track of who looks like a good match. If you’re not in a position to adopt but know someone who is, you can share the pet profile on Facebook and Twitter. Best of all, you can contact rescue organizations and shelters straight from the app.

National Attention

AllPaws has already made quite a stir in the adoption world. It was featured on ABC News, the Huffington Post, and Mashable- three major news sources with serious clout. Over 100,000 people have downloaded the app to their phones so far, with many more expected to follow. A new 1.0.1 version has been posted, which demonstrates the app’s popularity.

Positive Reviews

Reviews have been positive so far. User marissa_pocahontas posted on the app store, “I’ve never been able to get a chance to find out where to find pets and just getting all the information was a hassle. This app has helped so much in the search for a new member for my family. It’s like Tinder but better because these guys and gals are cuter and nicer and probably more cuddly.” User gipseeluv wrote that “we found our forever dog.” It’s one of the highest-rated apps, and for good reason: it helps connect people to their new best friends.

Finding the right pet can often take quite some time. With this app, you’re able to browse pet profiles on the go instead of waiting by a computer all day. The easy shelter and rescue contact numbers make it simple to give the organizations a call and ask more questions about specifications. This takes a lot of the hassle out of finding your new forever friend. It’s also expected to increase shelter adoption rates. And who doesn’t love that?

Adopt Don’t Shop

We’ll end this article with another old saying: “When you rescue a pet, you save two lives: the life of your new best friend, and the life of the one who takes its place in the shelter.” Too many pets languish in shelters, usually due to no fault of their own. This app is just what we need to find our new loving furry friends. It’s also a great way to raise awareness of the many animals looking for forever homes by spreading the word over social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. And unlike apps that connect you with potentially good restaurants or music, you’re sure to find a new friend that you positively love.
